Frequently Asked Questions Q. Why do I need to register for lessons? A. This secures a consistent day/time with an instructor. It means that you are assured a regular session each month. Your teacher will be there for your lessons each week on the day and time you've chosen and will have your lesson planned.
Q. Can I just take lessons every other week instead of every week? A. Effective learning is achieved through consistency, repetition & frequency. In order to learn to do anything well, correctly, and efficiently one must be willing to commit time do their chosen activity. Certain things must be repeated in order to learn & remember new skills and concepts.
Weekly lessons with a trained teacher/musician allows your progress to be checked to make sure you're on the right track and that any misconceptions or poor/inefficient technique can be corrected before it become an obstacle to your playing later on. Also, it is impossible for us to find a student to fill the hole you create on the weeks you aren't here.
Q. I missed a lesson. Can I deduct payment from next month's payment or get a credit? A. Unfortunately, no. Our studio is a business and not a hobby - we have expenses to cover. The income our instructors make from teaching is their livelihood. Lesson fees are calculated based on the average of 4 lessons a month. When a student signs up for lessons they are "buying" a day/time that is theirs alone. This means that their guaranteed time slot can not be filled by anyone else, not even to reschedule lessons for someone else. Additionally, the teacher has spent time putting together your lesson plan for the week's session.
Q: How long does it take to learn an instrument? A: There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
Q:
I don't have any musical background or ability; can I still help my child
practice?
Our Mission: To provide students of all ages with the skills they need to enjoy music for a lifetime.
